Understanding VG (Vegetable Glycerin) and PG (Propylene Glycol), two of the main ingredients in vape liquid, is key to getting the most out of your vape setup.

vg and pg chart

🌿 Vegetable Glycerin (VG)

What it is:

• VG is a natural compound derived from vegetable oils (often coconut, soy, or palm).

• It’s a thick, sweet, syrupy liquid.

Used in:

• Food (as a sweetener or moisture-retainer)

• Pharmaceuticals (cough syrup, skin products)

• Cosmetics

• Vape liquid (to create vapor and smoothness)

In Vaping:

• Thicker liquid

• Sweeter taste

• Produces dense vapor clouds

• Smoother on the throat (less throat hit)

• Can gunk up coils faster, especially in high ratios

⚗️ Propylene Glycol (PG)

What it is:

• PG is a synthetic organic compound, colorless and odorless, with a thin consistency.

• It’s considered safe by the FDA and has been used for decades.

Used in:

• Food (as a preservative, flavor carrier)

• Inhalers (for asthma)

• Pharmaceuticals

• Vape liquid (to carry flavor and give throat hit)

In Vaping:

• Thinner liquid

• Tasteless, but carries flavor better

• Produces less vapor

• Provides a stronger throat hit (similar to smoking)

• Easier on coils (burns cleaner)
