Voltage Vapin’ wants to remind you to always practice proper battery safety!

Battery safety is one of the most important parts of vaping and we would like to take the time to educate everyone on the basics!

More likely than not, you have seen news stories or videos on the internet about people who have had their vaping device explode or catch on fire. These issues do not just happen from everyday vaping. Improper use, neglecting the condition of your battery, and not understanding battery safety are the most common causes of these issues. One of the most common occurrences we see is tears in the battery wrap. Tears mean that there is exposed metal that can touch other metal and short out the battery. A shorted out battery can heat up causing it to vent. Even more dangerous than a tear is if the insulator on the positive side of the battery is missing or torn. Voltage Vapin’ does carry fresh battery wraps and is more than happy to provide instruction to make sure all of our customers stay safe!

Another issue that we have seen is people who carry around their batteries in their pocket with loose change or metal. What happens when pieces of metal touch both sides of a battery? It tries to discharge with nowhere for it to go causing the battery to heat up and vent. Always carry your batteries in a sealed case if you put them in your pocket! Lastly, the way you charge your device is very important. If you charge a device too quickly with a fast charger, such as those that charge popular smartphones, it is too much power too quickly. This can lead to battery venting, so be sure to use the charger that your device came with!

If you are unsure about anything related to battery safety, make a stop into Voltage Vapin’ to get some clarifications. We can let you know if a battery is unsafe to use, what to do to fix it, and we even sell freshly charged batteries!
